Study Visas, New Zealand

The quality of a New Zealand education is well recognized internationally and because we based our education system on the British system it is possible to complete an undergraduate degree in New Zealand and a Post graduate degree in another English- speaking country. New Zealand degrees have a reputation around the world for being practical, Modern and desirable. In some niche areas such as biotechnology, forensic science and marine engineering, New Zealand degrees and programmes are recognized internationally.

Choosing and pursuing the right career has become extremely difficult in the changing times. Career planning certainly requires an expert's guidance in terms of gaining insight into the educational opportunities available in India as well as abroad. Acquaintance with the pre-requisites of admission and other formalities involved', is equally important

All students are required to obtain a student authorization and visa before proceeding to any country for their studies. Admission to an institution does not guarantee the issuance of student's visa. Students must meet the requirement of the immigration Acts and Regulations of the respective countries.

It is recommended that a student must allow three months to process their application. After the student has signed the agreement with us, we start applying on his behalf to various colleges and universities. On getting the acceptance letter from the university or college, the student is required to generate the documents in the visa process.

International University degrees are offered at two consecutive levels - Bachelor and Master. The possession of a degree from the lower level is generally a pre-requisite for the admission to the next. Some universities also offer diploma and certificate courses, which require one or two years of study in a specific field or discipline.

All the colleges require certified copies of documents and academic records. For Universities Official Transcripts are required in sealed envelop. Students have to take the test of English ability IELTS or TOEFL and must obtain an average score of 550 on the TOEFL paper based test or 250 on the computer based test. IELTS is also widely acceptable with an average band of ‘5.5/6.0’ for diploma courses & graduation degree and '6.5' for Post Graduation degree or diploma. These scores may vary for different colleges and universities.

• 10+2+3 for Post Graduate & Masters
• IELTS 5.5/6.0 for Under Graduate Diploma’s & Bachelor
• 6.5 for Post Graduate & Masters
• Intake in the months of Jan, Feb, May, July & September
• Work Permit is given for 20 hrs approx
• Earning 6-10 $ per hour part-time
• Minimum passing marks required is 50%

What is student visa?

• A student visa is the approval you need in your passport to enable you to travel to New- Zealand to study.
• It is the requirement by law that you will need a student visa if you are in New- Zealand and want to travel   overseas and return to New-Zealand to study.
• The student visa gives you permission to travel to New-Zealand and means that you may be granted a student   permit when you arrive.
• The student visa also means that you can be issued for a single(one journey0 or multiple(more that one   journey) entry.

What is student permit?

A Student permit is the signature in your passport that acknowledges your right to study in New- Zealand. It will state the expiry date and give the circumstance of your permit. The circumstance of your student permit will include details about:

• The course you are studying.
• The educational institute that you are studying at.
• The address of the institute in New-Zealand.
• And any other restrictions (such a not being permitted to work).

Who needs a student visa?

You will need a student visa if you are not a resident in New Zealand, and are coming to New Zealand to study full time(for longer than three months. Your spouse, or partner and children who would like to go with you can apply for visitor or student visa.

Possible student coming as visitors to New Zealand from visa free countries may apply for a student permit once an educational institute has accepted them.

Do I need medical insurance?

Generally, students are not entitled to publicly funded health care while they are in New Zealand, unless they are:-

• A resident or Citizen of Australia.
• National of the United Kingdom in New Zealand.
• They hold a temporary permit that is valid for two years or more.

Do I need a police certificate?

If you are 18 years of age and over and intend to stay in New Zealand for a total of more than two years, you must provide a police certificate to show you are of good character. In order to prove you are of good character, you must supply the following:-

• A police certificate from you country of citizenship.
• Police certificate from any country you have lived for five years or more since reaching the age of 17 years.   Your police certificate must not be more than six months old at the time your application is lodged.
